Eagle's Nest Success!
We SOARED past our goal and raised more than $26,000 for the East PTC this year. Thank you for helping us make this inaugural campaign such a success. We’re pleased to have received donations from more than 50% of the school.
The Parent Teacher Council (PTC) is pleased to announce our new fundraising campaign “The Eagle’s Nest.” The Eagle’s Nest is our primary school fundraiser for the year and we’ve set a lofty campaign goal to raise $25,000. In addition to our regular PTC events, this money will go toward several larger projects that will enhance our students’ day-to-day lives at East, including shade for our primary playground, updates to the Kindergarten playground, and gardening improvements around the East School campus.
You may be asking – what is the PTC? Is this the cupcake making, school spirit building group of heavily caffeinated parents? Sort of – and a lot more. The purpose of the PTC is to work hand-in-hand with the East administration to support a variety of programs for students and faculty. Some of these programs are simply funded by the PTC, while others are both organized and paid for by your donations. Did you know?
The PTC covers the cost of all field trips so no family has to pay incrementally out-of-pocket. Previous field trips included the Stamford Nature Center, the Eli Whitney Museum and the Ridgefield Playhouse.
The PTC covers the cost of new classroom libraries for both new teachers and teachers changing grades so our students always have access to the newest, age and level appropriate books.
The PTC makes donations to and provides volunteer opportunities for our students to give back to our community, such as the Filling in the Blanks packing night.
The PTC funds STEM Night and the Science Fair, giving students extra opportunities to have fun with science and math.
And so much more – in the coming weeks, we’ll be highlighting a sampling of our programs- some you may be familiar with and some may be new to you.
This year, rather than putting resources toward an auction, we are making our fundraising efforts simple – in a similar manner to other New Canaan schools, such as Saxe Middle School and South School. This enables us to more efficiently deploy our resources and time to programs that directly benefit our students.
